Followers of Christ and Jewelry

Ever since I could remember there has been a battle between youth and elders about why followers of Christ should not wear jewelry. We were brought up with the nostalgic idea that wearing jewelry was against God and was a sin. I never really understood that for so many different reasons. So I decided to go on my own journey to "debunk" this mistifying "rule". And what I found was scripture upon scripture that was "for" the wearing of jewelry. Lets take this excerpt from Ezekiel 16:8-15, NASB (you should read the chapter for yourself to get your own full understanding)
  • Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine, declares the Lord God. Then I bathed you with water, washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. I also clothed you with embroidered cloth and put sandals of porpoise skin on your feet; and I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk. I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck. I also put a ring in your nostril, earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, honey and oil; so you were exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. Then your fame went forth among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you, declares the Lord God. But you trusted in your beauty and played the harlot because of your fame, and you poured out your harlotries on every passer-by who might be willing.
Its explained here that God himself blessed  someone with fine and beautiful garments! Not only that, but gave them jewelry to adorne themselves with! BUT...and thats a huge BUT, the blessing, or privilege was taken away from them when they used the blessing against God's will. Now, if wearing jewelry is such a sin, if its forbidden, why is it used in the bible, by God, for analogies of beauty? Why did he bless people with jewels and adorn them with jewelry, if it was such a "sin" to wear it? Is it not true, that we are made in HIS image? Is it not true that we are Royalty because we are sons and daughters of The Almighty King? And wouldn't he want us to esteem ourselves as such? Now Im not saying that we are a holy and upright nation. We DO fall short, but why should rules be made and taught that do not exist in Commandments to us? Is it due to fear?

Bust A Cold in the Mouth!

When I was a kid, even now unfortunately, I was sick alot. Well, Mom couldn't always stay home from work-she had to make a living for me and my younger brother. So ever so often, I would go to my neighbors house to be babysat! I remember one season when I had a very bad case of the flu! It was horrible, my throught felt like the Grand Canyon filled with cotton balls and lined with straight edge razors. I couldn't breathe and absolutely nothing would stay down. Well, my wonderful beautifel German babysitter came up with a concotion that healed my soul and to this day it still does! I decided why not share it with others! You never know what will work for you until you try it! Don't hate until you participate! :)

2 tbls of Cayenne Pepper
Half of a lemon cut into slices
One clove of minced garlic
Half an onion slithered
3 tsp of clover honey
8-12 fl oz of water (the less water the more potent)

Boil onion, lemon and garlic in water for about 3 minutes. Or until onion, lemon and garlic are soft. Pour into a cup add cayenne pepper and honey! Enjoy the feeling of a soothed throat (after slight burning from lemon and cayenne pepper), cleared nostrils and unstuffed ears and head!!

Thanks Mrs. Gurda, you were the best babysitter a girl could have in her childhood!!
